“Exceptional Personal Service with World Class Results” is important for any business transaction, but especially meaningful as buying or selling a home. Joan Sakyo, a Certified Residential Specialist, is an accomplished experienced real estate professional, as well as a certified negotiator.

But she is more than just her Realtor credentials. She brings a wealth of information and experience to her work. Having traveled the world and experiencing life through different cultures, was the best education she could have.

Joan’s work ethic and values are attributed to her early years. She was raised on a large dairy farm with 100 head of cows and 350 acres. Gathering cattle early in the morning and after school, gave her plenty of time to dream of her future.

After moving to Colorado and obtaining her teaching degree, Joan taught school for the Department of Defense in the Far East and Europe for three years. Her proficiency as an educator continues to be an asset to her clients as she imparts vital information about the real estate market and the local community.

Joan’s negotiating skills are fine-tuned and world class. She has negotiated the artwork of the French Impressionist, Rouault, for the world’s largest collector, with galleries in Tokyo, Paris, and New York.

High ethical standards were essential when she moved to the corporate world, working for AT&T Personnel, Internal Auditing and Security. Having a strong desire to be in business for herself, she started a real estate career; first with Prudential for ten years, where she was Rookie of the Year, another ten years with Keller Williams Realty where she was a training instructor and mentor, and currently with Venture Sotheby’s International, her ultimate professional goal.

Service to her community has long been a priority. Volunteering, fundraising, and giving back is very important to Joan. She has been on the board of a theater group, past president of a social organization and volunteered for the Bone Marrow Donor program. Her strong public relations, organizational, and leadership abilities have assisted all of these groups attain their goals.

As a Pleasanton resident for 45 years, Joan is very much a part of this wonderful valley. Her two children were born and raised here and attended our local public schools. Her son has his PhD. in marine biology and environmental studies and is an instructor at Ohlone College and her daughter graduated with a Master’s in social work, having worked at Stanford University Children’s Hospital until her move to Hawaii. Joan acknowledges her greatest accomplishment has been to give her children both roots and wings. She is a proud grandmother of four.

Joan has a passion for education and learning and helping people. To pass on her knowledge is a gift she enjoys sharing with the new agents she mentors and the buyers and sellers she represents. In today’s market, with so many challenges homeowners face, Joan has a deep compassion for those who look to her for assistance.

Joan’s hobbies include the theater, art, food and wine, and gourmet dining. Her love and appreciation of fine food took her to Paris to attend the Cordon Bleu cooking school.

Joan’s versatile background has provided her with an abundance of knowledge and expertise that has made a world of difference. Expect excellence from Joan Sakyo for top quality service that can’t be compromised.
